I wonder if this will cannibalize Huntsman's Advanced Materials Division's epoxy windmill resin/adhesives business? When I managed those products, they were always hard to move...maybe HPU can get more traction.
I think these PU systems are primarily reliant on snap curing and I think the epoxy resins will definitely get cannibalized on the smaller size wind turbine blades by Covestro's products. Curing epoxies takes a long time while PUs offer faster cycle times. I think all the major PU producers are looking to take market share from the traditional epoxy resin markets. It's already happened quite a bit in coatings and I think composites is next.
