There are well over 1200+ people here reading this newsletter and I consider this network to be highly specialized either from people being professional chemists, students, investors, or professionals related to the chemical industry in some way. There is a community waiting to be built I hope this is the first step.
If you are looking to hire people for your company or you are looking to get a new job (or perhaps your first job) please post about this in the comments. This is a discussion thread and it’s something I’m experimenting with for the 2nd time in two years. If it goes well I might do this 1-2 times a year.
Feel free to post if you are looking for information related to this newsletter too. Hopefully, either I or someone else can supply it.
Mushrooms and spider silk! We're making them into commercial materials (with companies like Adidas, Stella McCartney, and lululemon), and hiring lots of engineers and manufacturing folks. Check our openings here: https://boltthreads.com/careers/join-us/
Of all the spider silk companies out there Bolt Threads appears to me to be making progress and has been around for a while. Definitely worth checking out
At Marble we partner with scientists, engineers and operators to build deeptech climate startups that slash emissions, remove carbon, and cool the planet.
We have several Founder in Residence opportunities / roles open which would be a great fit for community members 🙂 Check out in particular:
Benjamin, do the founders need to have prior experience or would you be open to taking an ambitious graduate student that might have alignment of their research to these positions? Also, can you post your LinkedIn?
Thank you for being part of the community and posting!
Thanks Tony! Definitely open to PhD students / recent graduates! No prior startup experience required - but we do look for Founder potential + deep technical skills
We're always hiring chemists and engineers (from bachelor's to PhD and early to late career) at Origin Materials: https://www.originmaterials.com/careers. We pull from most chemical-related industries (refining, pharma, specialty chemicals, commodity chemicals, semiconductors, etc.) and we have labs in Houston, TX, and Sacramento, CA.
Can confirm Origin is doing great work. I have a friend within the team there and it sounds like a really exciting place to work. Definitely on the cutting edge and the company is going to do well by doing good. Can't get much better than this.
At Intropic Materials, we are leveraging our enzyme stabilization platform for applications in self-degrading plastics, biocatalysis in acellular environments, and beyond. We're looking specifically for chemists, polymer people, and engineers to support both R&D and applications development. Also, always open to meeting awesome people who don't fit into those boxes. We are located in Berkeley CA and are well resourced. Please reach out to me at info@intropicmaterials.com to learn more.

C&EN is hiring! If you get any of these and they ask, please tell them Craig sent you :)
A reporter covering biochem and instrumentation https://jobs.acs.org/job/Washington-Biochemistry-and-Instrumentation-Reporter%2C-C&EN-DC-20036/912390000/ I kind of split the instrumentation with the person in this job, as I cover it from the business side and they cover it from the science/research side.
We're also hiring for someone to help wrangle freelancers for C&EN and ACS Central Science https://jobs.acs.org/job/Washington-Editor%2C-Content-Partnerships%2C-C&EN-DC-20036/913335200/
And for both 2nd-in-command of the whole dang magazine positions, operations and editorial
https://jobs.acs.org/job/Washington-Head-of-Production-Operations%2C-C&EN-DC-20036/880571000/
https://jobs.acs.org/job/Washington-Head-of-Editorial%2C-C&EN-DC-20036/880570000/
#scicomm jobs. C&EN is the gold standard for chemistry reporting and I think would be a good place to work. Hmmmmmmm
