With the benefit of hindsight, it might have been a blessing as it lead me down an interesting (commercial) pivot compared to what I thought I’d do (lab work).
Sales - it started in a commodity chemicals' space, later moved downstream and wore a double hat (Tech Service) for a few years, then back in the raw materials' world - in a more specialty chemicals' area - as an individual Sales contributor.
For the past ~3.5 years I've been leading a team of Sales Managers, in the same Company.
Someone once told me not to be shy about asking for informational interviews, because "people love talking about themselves". Words of wisdom...
