Last Thursday as I was checking out at the grocery store I was talking to the cashier about the cold rain outside and she said its classic springter weather for the Boston area. From what I remember it was in the mid 40s and raining hard here. The kind of rain where you wish it would just turn to snow because then you wouldn’t get so wet (I realize snow would be bad for our garden). I’m looking forward to summer weather and hammocks. Here is my curation of my own writing, what I’m listening to, reading and watching throughout the week.
What I Wrote - Virus Killing Polymers and Reflection - Kraton’s Covid-19 killing polymer BiaXam is an interesting market development and I wrote about it at length. It is worth checking out if you are someone who does material development for a place like American Airlines or train cars. Reflection is my own reflection on writing since I’ve started the newsletter. I asked people to tell me what they might like to see me write about for the future and I’ve gotten some good suggestions. Just reply to these emails if you are interested in communicating to me privately or leave a comment.
What I’m Reading - Risky Climate by Gernot Wagner - Gernot’s latest article for the Risky Climate column appeared in Bloomberg Green’s newsletter and its about carbon taxes. I resonated with this article because I had already come to many of the same conclusions on my own but Gernot does a better job pulling together more data and studies around why carbon taxes are good, but not the silver bullet that will save us. Another story by Wagner worth checking out if you have time is from last year and why cities are important in reducing carbon emissions.
What I’m Listening To - Dror Poleg on Prof G - I listen to quite a few podcasts every week and Scott Galloway on occasion pulls in some interesting guests. Dror Poleg is one of them. They talk about cities, NFTs, and the future of work. You can check out more of Dror’s work at his website.
What I’m Watching - How To Rennovate A Chateau (Without Killing Your Partner) - I spend a lot of time either in the lab making stuff or at my computer in the lab looking up stuff. I consider my lab to be the safest place to be when it comes to not catching Covid-19 due to the high air turnover and the fact that we have a lot of lab space that is not crowded. When I need a coffee break I like to watch things that are somewhat unrelated to my job, but also related (I work in construction products) and rennovation YouTube channels have been my go to lately. The episodes are long, but interesting and have a cool escapism vibe.
Talk to you Tuesday,
